By Kandy Russo "There are no foreign lands. It is the traveller only who is foreign" Robert Louis Stevenson. Before heading off on our travels we must first pack our Porte. Some significant thought has to be given to this process. Where are we travelling? How are we travelling? And what activities or functions will we be attending? As the world shrinks and we are all looking for those unforgettable experiences, the way we dress as we swing around the world is very important. It affects our safety, our social interaction, and it can really make or break our adventure. A really big "no no" is to pack too much, because carrying our own bags can make us very vulnerable. The "Don't Leave Home Without" piece is a Pashmina or wrap in a complementary colour. This will help you from the start, on the plane, bus or train. It will keep the evening chills at bay, finish off your look and add modesty when required. Pashminas, wraps and scarves are also a lovely thing to collect on your travels. A silk scarf is always handy as a cover for a coarse or dodgy pillow slip in hotels or hostels. If your destination requires more modest coverage, simply take a bigger wrap or shawl. Remember when travelling that we are guests wherever we go, so dress like one! Be appropriate, comfortable and chic. Ensure your travel clothes are easy care and crush resistant. And remember the two best accessories are a smile and an open mind. Kandy Russo is a personal stylist who has been dressing people all her life.
