My brain's been like a sieve for the past 3 and a half weeks, my concentration span plummeting to levels of a maggot.

This is what happens when one's child gives their parent less than a month to prepare for their impending nuptials. That's right. Not a small intimate affair of 10 or 20, but a church ceremony followed by a full blown reception for 85. I've tried finding consolation in the fact  that the stress would not be drawn out.

Thankfully before the maelstrom descended upon us, Peter had taken me for a week of "R & R" to an amazingly serene place in Byron Bay aptly named Shambhala@Byron.

A selection of guest cottages in a tropical rainforest setting, Shambhala is the brain child of Joanna James, a dynamic lady with a passion for creating a guest accommodation that is as close to heaven on earth as one can get. And Shambhala@ Byron, Byron Bay, comes pretty close.

The legend of Shambhala tells the story of a mythical kingdom of serenity and pristine beauty hidden in the inaccesible depths of inner Asia. Rumoured that only those that vibrate to higher levels can find the gateways, those that enter never come back. And so we found ourselves in such a tranquil oasis, not in the foothills of Tibet, but in the tourist mecca of Byron Bay.
